Ewan McGregor has said he hopes to make another return to the Star Wars universe after Obi-Wan Kenobi to play the Jedi Master again.

The latest Star Wars series to land on Disney Plus, Obi-Wan Kenobi has seen Ewan McGregor return to the role he last played in 2005’s Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The series has reunited him with his prequel trilogy co-star, Hayden Christensen, who once again portrays Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in a story that focuses on Obi-Wan discovering his fallen former apprentice is still alive and out for revenge.

Ewan McGregor recently discussed the possibility of taking on a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, speculating that there must be other stories of the Jedi Master to explore in between Star Wars Episodes III and IV. While Obi-Wan Kenobi was only conceived as a limited series, it sounds like it has given the Obi-Wan actor an appetite for more.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Ewan McGregor confessed to enjoying making the series enough to want to play the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi again. McGregor said:

“I hope it’s not the last time I play him. I had such a great time doing this, I’m sure we can think of a few more stories before I turn into Alec Guinness, don’t you think?”

Hayden Christensen also admitted he “would be open to” appearing in a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, having previously said he would be interested in reprising the role of Darth Vader for his own spinoff series.

Here is the synopsis for Obi-Wan Kenobi:

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series will also see the return of legendary Star Wars composer John Williams, who scored a theme.

The first five episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are on Disney Plus now, with the final episode airing this Wednesday.
